Condor Takes Flight

Condor Cycles is one of the most well-known and well-respected bicycle shops and manufacturers in Britain. Founded in 1948, you can still find their shop on Grays Inn Road - the same road on which they started. In 1953, Condor supplied their frames for the Triumph team in the Tour of Britain, beginning their long relationship with the world of professional cycling. Their bikes have won world championships medals, and been ridden in the Tour de France.

A Masterpiece from the Master Craftsman

In 1954 Condor were joined by the much revered frame builder Bill Hurlow. He incorporated the stunning Fleur-de-Lys style lugs into his builds for them, and this frame has a beautiful example of them. The intricate and masterful crafting of the frame is evident in every last detail - from the cable guides to the half chrome forks and stays. Hurlow made this masterpiece out of Reynolds 531 tubing. Condor proudly advertised that Hurlow was building their frames, something unheard of at the time, demonstrating the master craftsman they had on their hands. This frame is from about 1957, and the superb condition it is in is a testament to the build quality and longevity of such a frame. With this frame, you aren’t just buying a bike, you are buying a piece of cycling history.
